Fifth generation in the Markgraeflerland. No copper sulphate, and since 2012 alcohol-free wine too.
This family estate is run by its owners Michael, Julian and Martin Zotz. Already the fifth generation! In 2012 they started a project to make alcohol-free wines. And with success! Zotz creates quality. They do so by working in the vineyard with plenty of handwork and love, to bring the grapes into the best possible condition.
Winemaker Dennis Meindl and his assistant Peter ensure optimal quality of the must and perfect vinification and de-alcoholisation. The Zotz family has practised sustainable viticulture to protect biodiversity since as far back as 1980! To this end they follow the sustainability guidelines laid down by the German government.
Matthias leads the vineyard team. All year round, he and his team look after healthy soils with lively flora and fauna. They use no copper sulphate and combat fungal disease through intensive pruning, which gives the sun and wind a grip on the grapes. They pick the ripe grape varieties in several passes, so that ripeness is optimal for making the best wines. The soil consists of loam and loess.
