Azienda Agricola Villa Crine
A small family estate where the tasting still happens at the kitchen table.
Villa Crine is the name of the manor house and wine estate whose outer walls date from 1700. The house is carved into the rocks at the foot of Colle Masua, in the heart of classic Valpolicella (Veneto). The wines are stored in these rocks (a stable, cool temperature!) to mature to perfection. The grapes grow at around 250 metres of altitude on a soil of clay and tuff.
A small estate of the Venturini family
The house has belonged to the Venturini family for centuries. They carefully preserve the now almost lost tradition of making high-quality Ripasso and Amarone wines the traditional way. Knowledge built up over generations is applied and refined by the young winemaker Giuseppe Venturini. The result is stunning!
Giuseppe is an oenologist and mastered his craft through years of university study. Most of it, according to his father, he learned from his father: Giovanni Battista Venturini.
The highest quality
Giuseppe combines modern techniques and innovations with the old traditions. Bacteria and moulds are avoided. After all, that means only a little sulphite needs to be added to kill bacteria and moulds. They make pure wines that won't give you a headache. Either way, all attention goes into creating quality wines. The grapes from the most important vineyards are vinified separately.
Without any pressure, all attention goes to the daily pruning work, the moment of harvest, the drying times of the grapes and the ageing times of the wines. Every stage is carried out with care. That takes calm. Providing it is the driving force behind this romantic estate: mother Mara.
Care for nature
The Venturini family works the vineyards with great care and respect for nature, shown among other things by the fact that no heavy pesticides are used and that the grapes are selected and picked by hand.
The wine is made with respect for everything that grows and flowers. Their vineyards enjoy a perfect climate for making sustainable wines. They grow grapes with respect for insect life and with respect for the planet. Spraying the grapes with heavy pesticides is therefore entirely unnecessary. That way the grapes stay pure, the wines taste delicious, and the planet and the wildlife in the vineyards remain intact.
