Quinta das Arcas
The wine is named after the Bicudo, the bird that lives in these vineyards. Its habitat is kept intact.
The estate of Antonio Monteiro is located in the village of Sobrado. The people behind Quinta das Arcas share one goal: making quality wines in which working in harmony with nature (plants and animals alike) is central. The winemakers Fernando Machado and Henrique Lopes work according to the IPM system (Integrated Pest Management), which ensures minimal use of pesticides. The result is a sustainable vineyard that protects insect life and soil life.
This Vinho Verde is named after the bird that lives in the vineyards. Their way of working keeps the habitat of the Bicudo protected. The vineyards, just 50 hectares in size, lie in a unique microclimate that allows the Loureiro, Arinto and Trajadura grape varieties to ripen in perfect health on this specific terroir (including granite).
The estate is Sustainable Winegrowing certified: a super sustainable estate. The area also has a great deal of green nature, hence the name Vinho Verde.
