Domaine de Corneille
Nathalie Estribeau makes rose on the cooler slopes above Aix. Small runs, against the current.

This estate has vineyards in the northern part of Aix-en-Provence. The vineyards get plenty of sun exposure, which gives the wine a fruity and aromatic character. The vineyards of Domaine de Corneille lie on the slopes north of the city of Aix-en-Provence. On these higher slopes it is cooler than in the south, which benefits the quality. The soil consists of clay and limestone, which gives the wine freshness and minerality.
Rosé from Aix-en-Provence became famous for its deliciously fruity taste and (honesty compels us to say) for the region's enormous marketing spend. The result was rapidly growing demand and even more rapidly falling quality. The team at Domaine de Corneille is turning the tide. Year after year, thanks to limited volumes and careful pruning, they deliver consistently high quality. The winemaker is Nathalie Estribeau.
