Bodegas Diez Siglos
Verdejo from the soil of La Mota. A steady partner for volume, loaded temperature controlled.
Diez Siglos is a classic small family business, run by Sr Antonio de Íscar. Their finest Verdejo comes from the vineyard called Castillo de la Mota. It is one of the two vineyards that lie at an altitude of 400 to 700 metres. This altitude cools the grapes at night, bringing the balance between acidity and sugar to its optimum. That makes a Verdejo of this quality unique!
A great deal of pruning is done in the vineyard to grow top grapes. The bodega has invested heavily in modern equipment to make a top Verdejo. The vines range in age from 25 to 45 years (a yield of only 3 kg per vine, needed to make 1 bottle of wine). Winemakers Noelia Santamaria and Laura Rubio are true professionals and work continually to perfect the wine.
During vinification the grapes barely come into contact with oxygen, so the wine does not oxidise once bottled. Even the water is stripped of lime and other impurities before the stainless steel cuves are cleaned. Bodegas Diez Siglos is certified by Wineries for Climate Protection, through which they work purposefully to counter global warming. And that is truly needed.
